Communication from the Executive Committee of Senate
On 16 March 2020 the Executive Committee of Senate determined that the deadline for students to choose the pass / fail grading option was extended to 9 May 2020. Subsequently on 24 March 2020 Senate Executive determined that the Senate Pass / Fail Grades Policy be temporarily suspended, thereby permitting undergraduate and graduate students to select the pass/fail grading option for any Fall/Winter 2019-2020 and /or Winter 2020 courses in which they are currently enrolled, with a few exceptions as follows*:
- BEd courses
- BScN major courses
- MScN Nurse Practitioner program
- JD courses, which are following a mandatory credit / no-credit evaluation scheme this term
At its meeting on 14 April, Senate Executive authorized an extension of the deadline for graduate students to opt for the pass / fail grading scheme due to the timing of the release of grades in graduate courses. The revised deadline for graduate students to select the pass / fail grading option is 30 May 2020. Students in Osgoode Professional Development (OPD) courses which end after the regular Winter 2020 term dates must contact OPD office and follow the OPD-specific process.
The deadline for undergraduate students to select the pass / fail grading option remains as 9 May 2020.
* BBA / iBBA major courses were also originally excluded from the pass/fail option. On 2 April 2020, the Executive Committee extended the pass / fail grading option to the core courses of undergraduate BBA and iBBA programs.
