This month the Lassonde School of Engineering is featuring the following awards (Deadlines may vary):


Atena Arabsalmany Memorial Scholarship

Value: $1,000

Deadline: November 10, 2019

Description: The Atena Arabsalmany Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate female students enrolled in the Space Engineering program in the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University. The Atena Arabsalmany Memorial Scholarship was established in loving memory of Atena Arabsalmany who was a 3rd year Space Engineering student at York University when she tragically died in 2008. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage female students to pursue careers in aerospace engineering and reinforce the status of women in this field. Students must meet the 7.5 grade point average requirement, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

F.C.C.P Electrical Engineering Award

Value: $2,000

Deadline: November 10, 2019

Description: The F.C.C.P. Ont. Education Foundation Electrical Engineering Award will be granted to an undergraduate student enrolled in the Electrical Engineering program at the Lassonde School of Engineering. To be eligible students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 6.00 and demonstrate leadership through involvement in their community and extracurricular activities.

Merei Family Scholarship

Value: $1,000

Deadline: November 10, 2019

Description: The Merei Family Scholarships have been created to benefit students enrolled in the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science in the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University. Two scholarships will be awarded to the students who have completed 60 or 90 credits and have the highest cumulative grade point average (1 for a student with 60 credits and 1 for s student with 90 credits). Two scholarships will be awarded to first year students and selection will be based in academic standing, demonstrated leadership and financial need with preference given to female candidates. This award will be renewable should the recipient continue to meet the criteria and maintain a minimum GPA of 7.5. The remaining two scholarships will be awarded to continuing students (minimum 24 credits completed) who has good academic standing, demonstrated leadership and financial need.

Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education Undergraduate Scholarships

Value: $1,500

Deadline: November 10, 2019

Description: The Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education Undergraduate Scholarship will be awarded annually to two students in the Lassonde School of Engineering. To be considered candidates must have completed at least 24 credits, have achieved a minimum gpa of 7.0 and must demonstrate role model qualities through participation in non-academic activities.

Other External Awards:

Women Techmakers Scholars Program

Women Techmakers Scholars will each receive $10,000 USD (for students in the US) or $5,000 CAD (for students in Canada) for the 2020-2021 academic year. Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate's impact on diversity, demonstrated leadership, and academic background. The program is open to students who meet all the minimum qualifications and we strongly encourage women to apply. All scholarship recipients will be invited to the annual Google Scholars Retreat in the summer of 2020 to connect with fellow scholars, network with Googlers, and participate in a number of development workshops. Professional development and community outreach opportunities will continue to be offered after the retreat. As a Women Techmaker Scholar, you will join a global community of scholars, have access to a forum to share resources, support other women in tech, and collaborate on projects to make a continued impact in your community.
