Mayhew Scholars Award

Deadline: March 15, 2018

Value: $2,500

Description: One of Canada's largest commercial interior design and contract furnishing firms since 1982, Mayhew helps companies leverage their investment in people and real estate. By designing work environments that optimize space, promote communications and foster collaboration, Mayhew enables clients to reflect their brand through their workspace, enhancing productivity and wellness. Mayhew creates workplaces that work. Applicants must also be willing to enrol in the Lassonde School's peer mentorship program. Applicants who are selected will be granted a $2500 award with an additional $2500 grant available to support their professional development activities such as conference attendance, graduate applications, interview clothing.

Eligibility: Eligible undergraduate or graduate female students, enrolled in the Lassonde School of Engineering may apply. Undergraduate students must have a CGPA of at least 7.0 and graduate students must have at least a B average. Applicants must also be willing to enrol in the Lassonde School's peer mentorship program. Applicants who are selected will be granted a $2500 award with an additional $2500 grant available to support their professional development activities such as conference attendance, graduate applications, interview clothing. Selected applicants may receive mentorship from individuals chosen by the Assistant Dean, Students or the Assistant Dean, Inclusivity & Diversity with input from Mayhew.

How to apply: Applicants must submit a personal statement that explains what they hope to achieve from the mentorship and how they have demonstrated their leadership and participation in extra-curricular activities. In addition, we ask applicants to submit a proposal for how  the additional $2500 grant would be spent. Please submit your statements to Gayathry Wright, Secretary, Awards Committee, 105 Bergeron Centre.


The Patel Family Fighting Spirit Award

Deadline: March 15, 2018

Value: $2,000

Description: The Patel Family Fighting Spirit Award will recognize students who are able to persevere and overcome life's ups and downs with a fighting spirit by achieving the greatest jump in grade point average from one year to the next. Undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in fulltime studies at the Lassonde School of Engineering are eligible.

Eligibility: To be eligible for this award, undergraduate or graduate students must be enrolled in full time studies at the Lassonde School of Engineering.

How to apply: Student can nominate themselves. Personal statements should be submitted to the Secretary of the Awards Committee, 105 Bergeron Centre.


The Patel Family Scholarships for Building Strong Communities

Deadline:  March 15, 2018

Value: $4,000

Description: The Patel Family Scholarships for Building Strong Communities will recognize the best all-around student (undergraduate or graduate) who exhibits leadership qualities with an emphasis on helping fellow students and building strong communities within their school, community and/or workplace.

Eligibility: To be eligible for this award for this award, students must have a 7.5 grade point average and graduate students must have a minimum A average. Students must be enrolled in full time studies at the Lassonde School of Engineering.

How to apply: To apply for this award, please fill out the current Student Financial Profile. Students are required to submit a CV and a personal statement that a) describes the leadership qualities that makes them a strong candidate, b) outlines their experience and c) discusses their commitment to building strong communities with the school, community and/or workplace.


The CAE Aubin SAE Aerospace Design Award

Deadline: March 20, 2018

Value: $800

Description: This scholarship program is sponsored by The Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Society of Automotive Engineers, through the generous support of Mr. Bruce R. Aubin. Mr. Aubin, retired after 40 years of service with Air Canada. He has dedicated over 50 years of service to the advancement of aerospace engineering. After serving as the 1993 SAE President, Mr. Aubin has been extremely active in the SAE by holding leadership positions as Chair of the SAE Aerospace Program Office and Vice Chair of the SAE Foundation Canada Board of Directors.

Eligibility: Canadian university students with unique and outstanding leadership skills within the SAE Aero Design collegiate chapter, SAE Aero Design team, the SAE local section or the SAE community, with potential transferability of leadership skills to the aerospace industry.

The CAE William G. Belfry Memorial SAE Scholarship

Deadline: March 20, 2018

Value: $2000 (Annually)

Description:  This scholarship program is sponsored by The Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Society of Automotive Engineers, through the generous support from friends of the late William G. Belfry. Mr. Belfry was a long time member, exemplary leader and exceptional engineer within the SAE and its Central Ontario Section. This scholarship was established to honour his passion for life, his leadership skills and his dedication to the service of others. Applicants will be judged on academic and leadership achievement, essay content, intent to pursue a career in mobility engineering, and involvement in SAE collegiate chapter activities with a recommendation from a previous employer and/or faculty staff member.

Eligibility: Applicants must be Canadian students with Canadian citizenships, and currently enrolled in a Canadian university engineering program.
