TRCA-York U Collaborative Meet and Greet
When: 11-1 pm, Wednesday, February 20, 2019
Where: Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence, 217
What: Collaborative Lunch and Networking with the TRCA researchers
You are invited to attend a lunch session with a research partner: The Toronto Region and Conservation Authority (TRCA) and the Ontario Climate Consortium (OCC).
TRCA/OCC work with municipalities and other partners to protect the watersheds of Toronto region and its natural environment. They are involved in monitoring and reporting on the health of Toronto’s environment and provide expertise on water management. They aim to reduce the human impact on natural resources and environment. The new TRCA head office will be constructed on campus in the next couple of years allowing for further partnership development: https://trca.ca/about/trca-administrative-office-project/
The OCC is based within the TRCA, and has a longstanding relationship with York University. The OCC is a partnership broker between academia, TRCA, GTA municipalities, other public agencies to support and enable climate action. OCC work in collaboration with various stakeholders including academic partners. Lassonde is looking forward to building on the pre-existing relationship with TRCA/OCC and long term partnership to enable the development and mobilization of applied research on climate mitigation and adaptation. This networking meeting is one of the steps to kick start the process.
The first of the collaborative lunch series will focus on “Water and climate change” research, including green infrastructure, low impact development, flood risk mitigation, etc. We hope to host more sessions in the future focusing on Energy and Infrastructure.
