Funding Components<\/button>\n\n        <div class=\"accordion-body js-accordion-body\">\n            Each student in the Civil Engineering Department will normally receive funding for Teaching Assistantship and Research Assistantship as well as a standard Fellowship.<br><em><u>Teaching Assistantship<\/u>:\u00a0<\/em>The graduate students at the department play a key role in undergraduate education by assisting the course directors in many aspects of teaching from lecturing to delivering labs and tutorials, to grading assignments and exams, to ensuring that the course is following the accreditation guidelines of the<em>\u00a0Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board<\/em>.<br><br><em><u>Research Assistantship<\/u>:<\/em>Research is a fundamental component of students\u2019 life at our department and students receive a portion of their salary because of being engaged in research activities.<br><br><em><u>York Graduate Fellowship<\/u>:<\/em>\u00a0The York Fellowship is part of each funding package given to full-time students.        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-accordion-item-block accordion-item js-accordion-item accordion-item--small\">        <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion-title js-accordion-title\">2. Scholarships and Awards Requiring Application<\/button>\n\n        <div class=\"accordion-body js-accordion-body\">\n            The Government of Canada\u2019s research agencies and funded partners\u2014the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and Mitacs\u2014promote innovation in research and reward academic excellence by offering a number of valuable and prestigious scholarships and awards.
