EECS - Teaching Stream Appointments in Computer Science and Computer Engineering (2 Positions)

Our Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department encourages you to apply for a position in Computer Science (CS) and Computer Engineering (CE). 

These are two (2) tenure-track teaching stream positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, one primarily focused on CS and one on CE.  We will start reviewing complete applications on November 1, 2019.  For full consideration, we need to have received your complete application materials by November 15, 2019. The appointments will commence on July 1, 2020, subject to budgetary approval. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Your background must include a PhD in CS or CE with demonstrated pedagogical innovation, or a MSc/MASc in CS or CE along with a doctoral degree (e.g., Ed. D) focusing on STEM-relevant higher education pedagogy.   For the Computer Engineering focused position it is required that you are licensed as a Professional Engineer or can become licensed soon after appointment.

You should have a demonstrated history in conducting scholarly research in innovative areas of CS or CE education at the University level and/or demonstrated experience in curricular and

pedagogical innovation in CS or CE education.

Through creative and forward-thinking support of new faculty, the Lassonde School of Engineering believes that we will enhance mentoring and support of our diverse student body. To this end, you will receive start-up funding, and a reduced teaching load in the first year.

As a new faculty member in the priority domains of Computer Science, Computer Engineering and STEM-relevant Pedagogy you will be expected to:

  • teach at the undergraduate level of our engineering, computer science and computer security programs;
  • demonstrate excellence, or promise of excellence, in relevant teaching and scholarly research in CS or CE education;
  • engage in curricular scholarship and innovation;
  • demonstrate potential for pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning or community-based learning;
  • demonstrate potential for universal design approaches to teaching and assessment
  • support aspects of curriculum delivery and development at the department, faculty and university level;
  • demonstrate leadership or potential for leadership;
  • contribute to service in administrative and committee work; and,
  • potentially develop a research program related to scholarship of teaching.
