International experience is also a characteristic that many employers look for and which gives an individual that extra career edge.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage students to undertake a term of study abroad, and seek to promote such international exchange terms by offering an international summer school program that allows students to experience what studying abroad will be like.<\/p>\n<p>Look for style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p>The&nbsp;Canada\/European Union Cooperation Programme in Higher Education has the following features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The articulation of credit transfer for courses taken by Canadian students at any of the European partners, and by European students at any of the Canadian partners;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The preparation of students for a term abroad through a summer school program (including some language preparation);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The exchange of students for a full term (or more) of study<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Canadian consortium partners include York University, Dalhousie University and the University of New Brunswick. The Fachhochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, the Warsaw University of Technology, and the University of Crete joined as consortium partners in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program is funded by&nbsp;the Government of Canada and the European Union.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-accordion-block\">\n    <div class=\"accordion js-accordion\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-accordion-item-block accordion-item js-accordion-item accordion-item--small\">        <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion-title js-accordion-title\">Why Study Abroad?<\/button>\n\n        <div class=\"accordion-body js-accordion-body\">\n            Personal growth! Get that extra edge!<br><br>As an individual you will learn a lot personally from an experience living and working in another culture.<br><br>Canada is a highly multi-cultural society and it\u2019s business activities are one of the most internationalized in the world. An experience like this will likely assist your career. And remember that software and computer systems are marketed around the world, so including culturally aware features in software, for example, makes eminent sense.        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-accordion-item-block accordion-item js-accordion-item accordion-item--small\">        <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion-title js-accordion-title\">Support for Students<\/button>\n\n        <div class=\"accordion-body js-accordion-body\">\n            From the point of view of the York University student the key elements include:<br><br>\u2022 Credit transfer for approved courses taken at any of the European partner institutions.<br><br>\u2022 Generous financial support for living expenses while abroad, amounting to about C$4500.<br><br>\u2022 Assistance with travel arrangements.<br><br>\u2022 Assistance with settling into the host country (e.g. finding accommodation)        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-accordion-item-block accordion-item js-accordion-item accordion-item--small\">        <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion-title js-accordion-title\">Worried About Language?<\/button>\n\n        <div class=\"accordion-body js-accordion-body\">\n            Don\u2019t be!<br><br>Naturally you should be interested in learning the language of the country you visit and we\u2019ll help organise some language training. But you\u2019ll find that our partners make special efforts to accommodate English in academic matters.<br><br>Perhaps unfortunately for native English speakers \u2013 who all too easily miss out on enriching their lives through learning a second language \u2013 it is a fact of life that English is the universal language of science (and quite a lot else!). Herpers), initiated an application to the Canada\/EU program.<br><br>After that, Dalhousie University and the University of New Brunswick joined as Canadian consortium partners and the Fachhochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, the Warsaw University of Technology, and the University of Crete joined as consortium partners in Europe.<br><br>In late 2004 the Government of Canada and the European Union approved funding for the project, for a period of three years. The project has been renewed in 2008 and we have sustained funding for student visits to our European partner universities until 2011.
