At the fundamental level, we are exploring the interactions between fluids and nano-micro scale objects in microenvironments using biomimetic multiphase microfluidic devices. We are interested in all aspects of these miniaturized devices including design of functional materials, development of compatible microfabrication techniques for their integration into LoC devices in the form of microactuators and microsensors, and application of such devices in organ- and organism-on-a-chip assays as well as point-of-care and point-of-need detection of biomarkers.
