Aijun An (Professor, EECS). Her expertise is in data mining, machine learning, and natural language processing. She has worked on various research topics, including pattern mining, data stream mining, distributed deep learning, sentiment and emotion analysis from text, data-driven recommendation, and graph analytics. She has published extensively in various premier journals and conferences in data mining, databases, natural language processing, and machine learning. Her research has been funded by various grants from NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR, ORF-RE and OCE. She is a two-time recipient of the NSERC Discovery Accelerator Supplement (DAS) award and has been a PI/co-PI for a number of industry-related projects, including 2 NSERC Alliance, 6 NSERC CRD, 2 OCE VIP, an OCE TalentEdge, an IBM CAS, and 2 NSERC Engage projects. In addition, during 2015-2020 she led the Big Data Research, Analytics and Information Network (BRIAN) Alliance, an Ontario-based research network funded by an ORF-RE grant that involved 4 universities and more than 10 private and public sector partners.
