Dr. Krishnamoorthy Hegde has more than 13 years of experience in developing, leading, and managing R&D programs and projects in diverse scientific domains related to biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, environmental biotechnology, and renewable bioenergy. He holds a balanced industrial and academic career experience in research project management, mentorship, business development, and establishing long-term industry-academia collaboration. He is a person with strong business acumen for commercial bio-product development, and a passion for strengthening and integrating academic and industrial relationships in Canada.
In his past industrial career, he has established business for start-up companies, streamlined lab-to-field technology transfer projects, and bioprocess scale-up studies leading to commercial bio-products and business collaborations.
His contribution to the field of science is credited with 2 patents, 2 books, and more than 80 publications. He is a recipient of several prestigious fellowships and awards, such as the FRQNT Postdoctoral Fellowship, and TUM Post-Doc Mobility Fellowship among others.
