The SMART-CREATE program has successfully completed its first year, marking an important milestone in building a national training network focused on the future of mobility systems. Led by Principal Investigator Professor Gunho Sohn, the program currently brings together 10 co-investigators, 15 trainees, and more than 20 collaborators from international institutions, academic partners, industry, and public-sector organizations. This diverse network reflects SMART’s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and real-world impact.
Throughout its first year, the SMART CREATE team focused on laying a strong foundation for the program, including recruiting trainees, establishing partnerships, and developing the collaborative training environment that will support innovative research in intelligent mobility systems over the coming years. A key highlight of the year was the SMART CREATE Collaborators Meeting held on February 5, 2026, which provided an opportunity for researchers and partners to meet, exchange ideas, and strengthen connections across the network. The meeting fostered new collaborations and reinforced the shared vision of advancing mobility innovation through research and training. With its core network now in place, the SMART CREATE program is well positioned to expand its training activities, research collaborations, and knowledge mobilization efforts in the years ahead.
