The NSERC-funded CREATE SMART program, now in its second year, continues to strengthen partnerships that advance research, training, and community impact. Led by MOVE Director, Professor Gunho Sohn, with several MOVE members serving as Co-Principal Investigators, the program brings together researchers, trainees, industry, and community partners to develop innovative smart mobility solutions.
Recently, Professor Sohn and MOVE Centre Coordinator Suji Rajaratnam travelled to Winnipeg to meet with representatives from Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN) at the University of Manitoba, alongside CREATE SMART Co-PI Professor Miyoung Suh and her research team. Discussions focused on opportunities to leverage micromobility solutions to improve accessibility and support healthier, more connected communities in OCN, reinforcing the program’s commitment to community-engaged research and meaningful partnerships.
Building on this momentum, several CREATE SMART members will travel to Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN) this August to continue strengthening relationships and exploring new opportunities for collaboration. The visit will focus on fostering long-term partnerships and supporting community-informed research initiatives that address local mobility challenges.
