Dr. Eskicioglu is a Professor and NSERC/Metro Vancouver Senior Industrial Research Chair in the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC)’s Okanagan Campus. She is also the Founder/Leader of the Bioreactor Technology Group (BTG), which focuses on advanced wastewater treatment processes for more efficient contaminant removal, energy conservation and production, resource recovery, and mitigation of trace contaminants of emerging concern. Dr. Eskicioglu co-authored over 120 peer-reviewed articles in journals, conferences, and book chapters (citations: 4000, h-index: 30). As a result of the strength of published work, she was invited as a keynote speaker to international conferences (i.e., ICERT’17, Rome, Italy) and as a visiting lecturer to the most prestigious universities in Europe (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne, University of Edinburgh), and North America (University of Washington). She is an editorial board member of three Journals, and she was one of the Pacific Regional Directors for the Canadian Association on Water Quality (CAWQ) between 2009 and 2013. She has received many awards including UBC Okanagan’s 2020 Researcher of the Year in Natural Sciences/Engineering, the UBC School of Engineering’s Outstanding Researcher Award (2017), the Confederation of University Faculty Association’s 2012 BC Early in Career Award, and by City of Kelowna’s 2011 Mayor’s Environmental Award. Additionally, she is a sought-after consultant for Canadian and international firms, water utilities, and non-profit organizations.
