NSERC Engage

Researchers are limited to receive a maximum of one Engage Grant* award per NSERC fiscal year  (* Engage Plus awards do not count). For applicants hoping to qualify for an Engage Grant award that will be assigned to the current (2017-18) fiscal year, the deadline for application submissions will be:  February 1st, 2018. For researchers intending to submit an application for Engage Grant funding by way of the special ‘VIP1-Engage’ joint-funding opportunity, the deadline for projects to be submitted to OCE will be January 19th, 2018.

NSERC Stragetic Partnership Grants for Projects - New process - LOI required
: Not stated.
Duration: 1-3 years
Objective: To increase research and training in targeted areas that could strongly enhance Canada’s economy, society and/or environment within the next ten years. Must be partnership with industry or government.

Genome Canada/Ontario Genomics: Bioinformatics/Computational Biology (B/CB)
$250 - $500 K from funder + at least equal matching from other sources
Duration: Up to 3 years
Objective: Development of next generation B/CB tools and methodologies needed to manage, analyze and integrate complex data sets produced by modern genomics technologies

2018-19 York-Massey Fellowship and Visiting Scholarships
Value: The Fellowship will provide the selected faculty member with prime office space in the College for the academic year and with dining privileges
Eligibility: full-time faculty members planning to go on sabbatical or other leave during 2018-19

Mitacs Elevate Postdoctoral Fellowship
: $60,000 annual award (plus $7,500 per year non-cash value in training)
Duration: 2 years.  Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to spend one to two days per month participating in training activities.

CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars Program 2017
•    $100, 000 CDN in undesignated research support
•    A two-year appointment in a CIFAR research program, a global network of top-tier research leaders

Objective: Help early career researchers build networks and essential skills to position them as leaders
Eligibility: Less than five years as an academic scientist

Eligibility: Final-year undergraduate students or graduate student, or recent undergraduates and Masters graduates within three years of graduation from an Ontario-based post-secondary institution.
