Lassonde Academy is an online learning platform designed to help you boost your confidence and brush up on key skills before you join our School.

All courses are free, fully online, self-paced and guided by an instructor.

Pre-U Chemistry

Lassonde Academy: Pre-U Chemistry is designed to review and reinforce chemistry concepts as well as to enhance your learning skills in preparation for your first year at Lassonde.

Our Pre-U Chemistry course consists of multiple modules. Each module focuses on the concepts that are most important for your success in your first-year program.

We will review as well as build on a lot of content that will likely be familiar to you, including:

• Acids, Bases and Equilibrium
• Building Bonds
• Reactions and Energy

To support your learning, each module contains:

• Mini-lessons focused on learning through problem-solving, along with tasks that will serve to support your learning and progress
• Activities that will enhance your skills and create opportunities to apply your knowledge
• A summative task that applies your learning in the module to a real-world problem connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

As you work through each of the modules, you’ll learn to:

• Organize, analyze and interpret data as it relates to classroom investigations and to real-world chemistry
• Apply concepts and equations to systems that surround us – physical and chemical, natural and human
• Understand practical applications of chemistry in areas of engineering, science and technology
• And more

This course is asynchronous, providing a self-paced program with opportunities to connect with your instructors and should take you approximately 40 hours to complete.

Pre-U Math

Lassonde Academy: Pre-U Math is designed to review and reinforce mathematical concepts as well as to enhance your learning skills in preparation for your first year at Lassonde.

Our Pre-U Math course consists of multiple modules. Each module focuses on the concepts that are most important for your success in your first year program.

We will review as well as build on a lot of content that will likely be familiar to you, including:

• Polynomial and Rational Functions
• Trigonometric, Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
• Vectors

To support your learning, each module contains:

• Mini-lessons focused on learning through problem solving, along with tasks that will serve to support your learning and progress
• Activities that will enhance your skills and create opportunities to apply your knowledge
• A summative task that applies your learning in the module to a real-world problem connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

As you work through each of the modules, you’ll learn to:

• Apply your understanding of various functions to create and explore a variety of models involving real life scenarios and applications
• Solve problems involving the application of derivatives, such as optimization and curve sketching
• Develop understanding of geometric vectors in two-space and three-space by representing them algebraically and geometrically and by performing operations on vectors

We will review as well as build on a lot of content that will likely be familiar to you, including:

• Motion and Collisions
• Forces and Fields
• Waves and Mechanics

To support your learning, each module contains:

• Mini-lessons focused on learning through problem solving, along with tasks that will serve to support your learning and progress
• Activities that will enhance your skills and create opportunities to apply your knowledge
• A summative task that applies your learning in the module to a real-world problem connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

As you work through each of the modules, you’ll learn to:

• Select, prepare and analyze graphical representations of data collected in classroom and in real-world contexts
• Develop understanding of physics concepts – principles, units, diagrams
