Admission Requirements

Please select your academic background from the options below and review the admission requirements for your intended program of study.

We evaluate all applications holistically! If you have a strong overall academic record, we encourage you to apply. If you’re missing one or more prerequisites, we’ll assess your eligibility to take Lassonde Academy courses to meet the admission requirements.

As an Ontario high school student, your admission will be based on six Grade 12 U/M courses, including the specific prerequisites listed below.


For all Engineering programs (including IDS Dual Degree)

• English
• Advanced Functions
• Calculus & Vectors
• Physics
• Chemistry


For Computer Science or Computer Security

• English
• Advanced Functions
• One other 12U Math course (Calculus & Vectors strongly recommended)
For BSc and iBSc programs: All of the above plus Physics or Chemistry


For Digital Technologies

• English
• Advanced Functions
*One other 12U Math course is recommended but not required


For Digital Media

• English
• One 12U Math course
*One 12U/M Arts course (or equivalent training) is recommended but not required


For Earth & Atmospheric Science

• English
• Advanced Functions
• Calculus & Vectors
• Physics
*Chemistry is strongly recommended for Atmospheric Science & Space Science stream
Applicants who have completed their studies outside of Canada should meet the program-specific requirements listed below (e.g., at the Grade 12/Senior level or higher).
Proof of English language proficiency (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL) may be required for non-native English speakers.

Applicants who have completed any academic studies at an accredited university should meet the program-specific requirements listed below (e.g., Grade 12U or equivalent, or higher).
Proof of English language proficiency (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL) may be required for non-native English speakers.
*Prerequisite requirements (or their equivalents) must have been completed within the past five years.


For all Engineering programs (including IDS Dual Degree)

• Overall average of 3.0 or better on a 4-point scale (B/70% or equivalent)
• Advanced Functions*
• Calculus & Vectors*
• Physics*
• Chemistry*


For Computer Science or Computer Security

• Overall average of 3.0 or better on a 4-point scale (B/70% or equivalent), plus a minimum grade of C+/65% in each of any math courses taken in university
• Advanced Functions*
• One other 12U Math course (Calculus & Vectors strongly recommended)*
For BSc and iBSc programs: All of the above plus Physics or Chemistry*


For Digital Media

• Overall average of 2.3 or better on a 4-point scale (C+/65% or equivalent)
• One 12U Math course


For Earth & Atmospheric Science

• Overall average of 2.3 or better on a 4-point scale (C+/65% or equivalent)
• Advanced Functions*
• Calculus & Vectors*
• Physics*
*Chemistry 12 strongly recommended for Atmospheric Science & Space Science streams

For Digital Media

• Overall average of 3.0 or better on a 4-point scale (B/70% or equivalent)
• One 12U Math course (with a minimum grade of 75%)*


For Earth & Atmospheric Science

• Overall average of 3.0 or better on a 4-point scale (B/70% or equivalent)
• Advanced Functions*
• Calculus & Vectors*
• Physics*
*Chemistry 12 strongly recommended for Atmospheric Science & Space Science streams

• Official Transcripts (High School and/or College/University)
