June 2026

June was a month of milestones at Lassonde, from celebrating the Class of 2026 at Convocation and welcoming Honorary Doctor of Laws Professor José M. F. Moura, to launching the school’s first professional master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Systems. The month also brought recognition of Convocation medalists, five incoming Schulich Leaders, and partnership discussions with Hanwha Aerospace and Nottingham Trent University, while the Civil Engineers of Lassonde earned Best Student Chapter at the 2026 Canadian Society of Civil Engineers Annual Conference.

May 2026

May brought new department chair appointments, faculty recognition at the President’s Research Awards, and student achievements including the Vector Scholarship in AI and the Robert J. Tiffin Student Leadership Award. Lassonde researchers secured $1.3M from the Canadian Space Agency, while Lassonde Motorsports made history by completing the school’s first competition-ready race car in over a decade. The month also saw meaningful partnerships with delegations from Nottingham Trent University and the Czech Republic, and a Capstone team earned an invitation to present at the Canadian Space Agency headquarters in Ottawa.

April 2026

Lassonde wrapped up an exciting April, recognizing four alumni in York’s Top 30 Under 30, celebrating 483 students across Capstone and C4 projects tackling challenges in healthcare, clean energy, and AI. Federal funding backed clean energy research led by Lassonde faculty, while community events, including the Civil Engineering Alumni Night, the Troitsky Bridge Building Competition, and a student wellness event highlighted the school’s commitment to connection and student success.
