Connect with an Academic Advisor

For inquiries about programs offered at our Markham Campus, please connect with a Markham Academic Advisor.

Our team of advisors at the Lassonde Student Welcome & Support Centre is committed to providing Lassonde students with the advice you need as students in a professional School. Advising helps you to make informed and thoughtful decisions about your academic pathway as you progress through the Lassonde School of Engineering.
We are here to help! We also want to help you save time. Before you sign-up to connect with an Academic Advisor, have you explored our Enrolment and Advising Questions and Answers website to determine if the answer to your question is available online? Check it out now.

Academic Advising Drop-in:

Lassonde students participate in one-to-one academic advising by first joining the line via the QLess app. Download the QLess app now.

After you log into the QLess app, you will see a variety of lines called “queues”. Our queue begins with “Lassonde Academic Advising…”. Join the queue early on the day you would like to connect with an Academic Advisor. You are welcome to select the “book a future appointment” feature as well.

Schedule:

Monday to Thursday: 11:00am to 4:00pm
To select in-person, telephone, or virtual advising via Zoom, join the drop-in line.

What to expect:

Lassonde Academic Advising typically has two or more Academic Advisors supporting students during drop-in hours. If the queue reaches capacity, you are welcome to:

– continue to refresh the QLess app in case the queue re-opens again before closing time
– book a future appointment via the QLess app
– e-mail questions to ask@lassonde.yorku.ca

Once you have joined the line, you will receive real time text messages updating you on your estimated wait time and your place in the line. This allows you to wait where you want, how you want.

When it is your turn:

If selecting telephone, an Academic Advisor will call you when it is your turn.

If selecting in-person, proceed to the 1st floor lobby of the Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence. An Academic Advisor will greet you when it is your turn.

If selecting virtual, when it is your turn, proceed to the Zoom waiting room.

During peak periods or in response to unforeseen circumstances, in-person sessions may be facilitated via telephone or Zoom instead.

We appreciate your patience as we work to assist all students in the queue.

While you wait:

Explore our Enrolment and Advising Questions and Answers website and the Required Advising / Lassonde Academic Advising Classroom for answers to commonly asked questions.

Upcoming closures:

There will be no Academic Advising on Statutory Holidays throughout the academic year.

We encourage all students to self-assess their progress towards graduation using their Academic Calendar, Program Checklist, Degree Progress Report, and Required Advising Curriculum Updates. If you notice a discrepancy between your Degree Progress Report and these resources, please e-mail ask@lassonde.yorku.ca and our Academic Advising team will respond.

If you are in your final session of study, apply to graduate. To learn more, review the “Preparing to Graduate” section of Required Advising.

I would like to have my Degree Progress Report updated

You can complete the DPR Update Request Form (to view this link, you’ll need to be logged in to my.yorku.ca) if you would like the DPR to be updated to reflect your transfer credits or course credit equivalencies not currently reflected.  An Academic Advisor will review your file and make any necessary adjustments.  Please allow at least 2 weeks from when the form is completed for these changes to be reflected.  If an Advisor has any concerns, they will contact you to discuss.

If you do not have access to the DPR or if after self-assessing your progress to date using your Academic Calendar, Program Checklist, Degree Progress Report, and Required Advising Curriculum Updates you still have questions about your remaining degree requirements, you may Request an Informal Degree Review (to view this link, you’ll need to be logged in to my.yorku.ca).
Prefer e-mail? E-mail us your questions at ask@lassonde.yorku.ca. We check our e-mails every day.

From May to September, a peak advising period for all students, you will experience delays to our e-mail response times.
