“Industry Night: Computing and Mechanics was started with the goal of establishing an accessible, conference-style event that would provide Lassonde students with insights into industry, research and design teams,” says Quardin Lyttle, Industry Night MC. “Since the first event in 2023, Industry Night has effectively doubled in size and reach, supporting many students in their pursuit of internships, research opportunities and design team memberships.”
This year’s event attracted over 300 participants, including Lassonde’s industry partners such as KPM Power, Pantheon Prototyping and Quanser. Students were encouraged to approach the evening as a professional conference – an opportunity to delve into the tech landscape, engage in conversations with industry employees and explore potential career pathways.
One highlight of the evening was the panel discussions, which covered topics ranging from semiconductors and artificial intelligence to design for manufacturing. Expert panelists from both academia and industry shared their perspectives, sparking conversations and inspiring attendees to think critically about the future of engineering and computer science.
