Exploring New Frontiers of Knowledge
In 2021, students are able to have a meaningful research experience, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, with faculty members across all four departments: Civil Engineering, Earth and Space Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering.
This year, students will be conducting much of their work remotely, but some may be able to access campus facilities to conduct laboratory research, depending on regulations.
The goal of the summer program is to provide undergraduate students experience in a professional research environment and inspire them to pursue further research careers.
“For many of us, summer encounters with research can be the spark that ignites a life-long passion for inquiry in engineering and science. Getting to experience how world-class research is actually done provides our students with a sense of accomplishment and the confidence that they, too, can make a contribution to advance knowledge and solve global problems.”
– Dr. John Moores, Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies
