Contribute to the memory of Professor Lal Samarasekera

At this time, we come together as a close-knit community to remember and honour the life and contributions of our beloved colleague, Professor Lal Samarasekera, who passed away recently. Lal was not only an exceptional educator but also a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to many of us.

In remembrance of Lal and to honour the lasting impact he has had on our institution and the lives of countless students; we are launching a special fundraising initiative. We invite all faculty and staff to participate by contributing to Lal’s memory. To further encourage your generous support, we are pleased to announce that the school has pledged to match all donations, up to a total of $10,000.

Lal devoted his heart and soul to our institution, leaving a legacy that will forever be a part of our school’s history. In Lal’s memory, this fund will be designated to create an expendable (or endowed) award for a student entering an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering at Lassonde from a high school or post secondary institution in Sri Lanka who demonstrates academic excellence, commitment to volunteer work, extracurricular activities and leadership skills. Preference will be given to students with demonstrable financial need.
