Message from the Dean
Dear Lassonde Alumni,
As spring approaches, I hope this message finds you energized and in high spirits.
March is a special time of year. It marks National Engineering Month, a time to celebrate the innovations and contributions of engineers – and engineering students – across the country. It’s a chance for us to reflect on the advancements we’ve made, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the future we’re building together. Our commitment to pushing the boundaries of science and engineering plays a crucial role in our pursuit to become one of the world’s leading interdisciplinary science and engineering schools, as outlined in our Strategic Academic Plan.
In this latest edition of our newsletter, you will find stories of exciting research, teaching and learning, partnerships and innovation. From reimagining the future of crisis response to developing new methods for disease prevention and detection, our researchers are working towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Additionally, March marks International Women’s Day, an opportunity to recognize women’s successes, advocate for increased inclusivity, and push for gender equality across all fields, especially STEM. Our goal at Lassonde is to not only advance as a leader in science and engineering education but to do so by fostering an environment where diverse perspectives thrive.
This day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress we’ve made, and the ongoing efforts needed to ensure equality for all. I encourage you to listen to our most recent podcast episodes which feature powerful women, including alumni, who share their inspiring stories.
As always, your continued support and engagement with Lassonde are invaluable. Your accomplishments inspire our current and future students, and your involvement helps shape the next generation of leaders in science and engineering.
Please visit our alumni page for more information about how you can continue to stay involved at Lassonde.
Sincerely,
Jane Goodyer
