Lassonde teams up with FIRST Robotics Canada
Lassonde is hosting the FIRST Robotics Competition March 23-25 2018.
Over thirty robotics teams of Ontario high school students will compete, showcasing their teamwork, creativity and technical abilities.
Under strict time limitations, students will design and build 120-pound robots that compete on a playing field to complete tasks. Students will program and test their machines using skills in engineering, coding, and design.
Teams will also develop business and marketing plans, as well as outreach initiatives to fundraise and engage their local community.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international non-profit organization designed to inspire students to pursue further studies and careers in science, engineering, technology, and mathematics.
“We’re excited to bring young students across Ontario to learn how they can use science and engineering to change the world. At Lassonde our students learn by doing and it’s this creative ethos that we are delighted to support in FIRST Robotics competitions,” said Lassonde’s Interim Dean Richard Hornsey.
