Lassonde professors embark on multi-year Canadian Space Agency Project

In September, the Canadian Space Agency’s VECTION project began training and performing baseline data collection on its first astronaut subjects in Houston.

This project, which includes Lassonde Professors Robert Allison and Michael Jenkin, both from the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, explores the effects of long-duration spaceflight on the perception of self-motion.

Taking place over the next few years, this interdisciplinary project, led by Professor Laurence Roy Harris from the Department of Psychology, uses virtual reality to test astronauts prior to, during and after long-duration missions on the ISS. The first on-station data collection is expected in late December.
