The York University × Uptown International School pathway is designed with IBCP students at the centre. It gives students a clear, supported route from high school to undergraduate study at York University in Toronto. By combining IB courses, a BTEC Level 3 Diploma, and the IBCP Core, students can explore a wide range of programs including STEM, while receiving flexible support to meet prerequisites.

General Admission Requirements for Most Programs
Students must complete:
IB Diploma Programme Courses
- A minimum of two IB Diploma Programme courses
- Students may choose to take more than two IB courses
- Minimum grade of 5 in each IB course (unless otherwise specified)
- All required prerequisites must be completed at the IB level
BTEC Qualifications
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma (120 credits)
or - BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (180 credits)
- Minimum average of Merit, unless otherwise noted

Why This Pathway Is Different
Many competitive engineering and computing programs in Canada require three academic prerequisites: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Because IBCP students complete two IB academic courses alongside a BTEC Level 3 Diploma, York University offers additional flexibility and academic support through Lassonde Academy to help students meet any missing prerequisites.

Pathway to the Lassonde School of Engineering
Lassonde School of Engineering is one of Canada’s leading engineering schools and offers undergraduate programs in engineering, computer science, computer security, earth & atmospheric science, and digital media.
Lassonde Admission Requirements
Students must complete:
IB Diploma Programme Courses
- General York University admission requirements
- Two IB Diploma Programme courses (minimum grade of 5 in each)
- Prerequisites completed at the IB level
or Lassonde Academy courses (can be used for up to two missing prerequisites)
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma (120-credit Diploma or 180-credit Extended Diploma)
- Minimum average of Merit, unless otherwise noted
- Completion of all CP Core components mentioned above
- Prerequisites completed within the last five years
