Bergeron Centre featured in Architect Journal

Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence – Lassonde’s new home – has been featured in Architect Journal, a prestigious publication of the American Institute of Architecture.

The article takes an in-depth look at the principles that inspired the construction of the Bergeron and how its design elements are fostering the growth of the Renaissance Engineer at Lassonde.

The façade is inspiring and Bergeron’s bright spaces, active learning halls and maker labs encourage a new way of delivering Engineering education. The Bergeron “re-thinks campus hierarchy to foster modern ways of learning.”

The Bergeron Centre is designed to invert the traditional academic hierarchy, giving students the biggest and brightest spaces for working communally, socializing and making. For group work and entrepreneurial projects, students are given the tools and spaces they need to design and learn by doing.

As it is a place for students to create the Bergeron Centre’s design was driven by a focus on students’ productivity and discovery.
