BEST company takes top spot at Berkeley competition
MIR, a company born in Lassonde’s BEST lab has taken the top prize at a University of California, Berkeley entreprenurship bootcamp.
Lassonde mechanical engineering student Linar Ismagilov founded MIR last year along with Schulich business student Nikita Iliushkin.
At the Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship, Bootcamp MIR competed against 18 other companies from all over North America in the semifinals.
They won first place for their idea to invent a new kind of drone that will help make drone parcel delivery a reality.
This drone has been developed in workshops at the Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence.
This week-long bootcamp included a wide variety of participants including students from engineering, business, and social science.
Nikita and Linar continue perfecting their prototype, building industry relationships and refining their business plan.
