Lassonde featured in the Toronto Star

The Lassonde School of Engineering was featured in the Toronto Star today in a piece entitled “The future of education has arrived”.

The future of education has arrived; New Downsview aerospace facility just one of city’s exciting opportunities

Engineering students at York will soon have a brand new home with the opening of innovative Lassonde School of Engineering building in 2015. The building’s cloud-inspired design is meant to reflect and motivate the school’s mission of providing a creative biosphere for students. The new building will have zero classrooms or offices, instead focusing on open spaces where students can collaborate and work and learn alongside each other.

The ZAS Architects project caught the attention of Toronto Star architecture critic Christopher Hume, who included the building in his roundup of Toronto projects to look forward to.

You can check out the coverage on the back page of the special supplement Engineering Excitement in today’s newspaper.
