Lassonde prof. Shepherd to receive the COSPAR William Nordberg Medal


Estemeed Professor Emeritus Gordon Shepherd has been awarded the COSPAR William Nordberg Medal by the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR). He will receive the award on August 1 during the 41st COSPAR Scientific Assembly in Istanbul, Turkey.

The COSPAR William Nordberg Medal commemorates the late William Nordberg and is given for distinguished contributions to the application of space science.

Gordon Shepherd is a professor emeritus and researcher at Lassonde School of Engineering’s Department of Earth and Space Science and Engineering.

He has made many distinguished contributions to our understanding of the upper atmosphere through the development of instruments and scientific insights. His pioneering work has had a revolutionizing impact on our view of atmospheric dynamics and chemistry.
