Lassonde professor’s “space elevator” on cover of Design Engineering

Earlier this year, Lassonde Professor Ben Quine’s patent for an elevator to space went viral with coverage from major publications and outlets worldwide. His company, Thoth Technology continues to receive attention for an innovative design.

This October ThothX Tower is the cover story of Design Engineering magazine, featuring an in-depth look into the process of designing and developing this idea.

Scientists are optimistic about the feasibility of the project. Ishwar Puri, dean of engineering at McMaster University says, “the of out-of-the-box thinking that the Thoth design uses is a brilliant example of the engineering creativity that is required to move science fiction into the realm of everyday reality.”
