Lassonde’s James Smith appears on Dragons’ Den

Lassonde Professor James Smith is helping companies research and develop products that are engineered for comfort. Toronto-based athletics company, knixwear, turned to Professor Smith and Dr. Anne Moore to test their line of sportswear.

On Wednesday, November 11, Professor James Smith appeared on CBC’s Dragon’s Den alongside the founder of knitwear Joanna Griffiths to show an update on the research for high-impact sportswear. James and Anna worked with knixwear at York’s Sherman Health Science Research Centre to test the technical aspects of the sportswear.

Professor Smith’s role on the project is to develop a mannequin that moves so that different designs can be tested and results validated from human trials with staff and researchers from the School of Kinesiology.
