Bio

Dr. Siu N. (Sunny) Leung is an Associate Professor/Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at York University. He was a postdoctoral fellow and the lab manager of the Smart and Adaptive Polymer Lab at the University of Toronto from 2010-2013. He was also a lecturer for several undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses, in the areas of manufacturing and smart materials, at the same university. He completed his B.A.Sc. in Engineering Science, as well as his M.Eng. and PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto. In recognition of his achievements in research, he received the W.A. Miller-PhD Graduate Student Scholarship and the Ontario Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award.

Dr. Leung’s research interests focus on the micro-and-nanostructuring of material systems, with the emphasis on tailoring and optimizing their multifunctional properties for a wide spectrum of applications (e.g., aerospace, automotive, biomedical device, micro-and-flexible electronics, sustainable energy, sensor and actuator, etc). This highly interdisciplinary research area requires integrating the principles and techniques of advanced manufacturing, material sciences, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and rheological sciences.
