OSIRIS-REx Spacecraft to Deliver an Asteroid Sample to Earth – Join us at the ROM on September 24!
Did you know NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft will drop a capsule, containing a sample taken from the asteroid Bennu, into the Earth’s atmosphere?
Lassonde’s own Professor Mike Daly is the Canadian scientific lead for this mission, and the Centre for Research in Earth and Space Science (CRESS) at York University played a pivotal role in the instrumentation for the spacecraft.
At the ROM this Sunday, September 24, chat with Jim Freemantle and Jeff Seabrook, Lassonde researchers who worked on the mission, and watch the capsule landing via live stream! Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to watch an asteroid sample delivered from space with commentary and insights from researchers who were involved in the project! The ROM will also be hosting activations in the Teck Gallery to mark the return of OSIRIS-REx.
If you can’t make it on Sunday, stop by the Bergeron Centre Lobby on Tuesday, September 26 to meet the researchers and hear about their experience working on this mission.
