Student innovation showcased at three Capstone Days in 2024

Lassonde Capstone Day, C4 Spring Capstone Day and C4 Summer Capstone Day brought together students, faculty, staff, alumni and both industry and community partners for remarkable showcases of undergraduate capstone projects.

On April 26, 2024, students from Lassonde’s ENG 4000, CIVL 4000, and MECH 2112 courses presented a diverse range of projects, spanning the use of Augmented Reality to transform education to harvesting mechanical energy into electrical power. This event highlighted their innovative contributions.

Also on April 26 and on June 7, C4 took place, celebrating the ingenuity, creativity, and impact of York University students across all Faculties engaged in projects related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

All three occasions provided students with invaluable opportunities to exhibit their project experiences, compete for awards, and foster the development of essential professional skills crucial for their future careers.

Capstone Day is always an amazing event, and this year’s teams really excelled with their outstanding project presentations. It was a true celebration of not only their efforts over the year, but a real culmination of their degree. They always have so much to be proud of on this day!Franz Newland, Associate Professor, Space Engineering & Co-Founder of C4: The Cross-Campus Capstone Classroom.

The Lassonde Capstone team extends a special thank you to their project partners, industry advisors and especially to the Capstone Day judges, including Vidushi Jain, Tom Granat, Randa Qashoa, Oliver Xiao, Olga Klushina, Jushwin Mahal, Josh Abraham, Farouk Wahsh.

C4 extends their sincere appreciation for their project partners, guest industry specialists, award judges and especially their current funders—Honda Canada Foundation, GHD, BHER, Wayble, and YSpace. In addition to funding awards at both Capstone Days, Honda Canada Foundation was also the event sponsor for our Summer Capstone Day event in June.
