Message from the Dean

Greetings Lassonde Alumni,

I hope this message finds you well and thriving in your respective pursuits. As the holiday season approaches, I’d first like to extend warm wishes to you and yours.

Secondly, I’m thrilled to share with you our 2022-23 Annual Impact Report. The accomplishments outlined in this report stand as a testament to the collective efforts of faculty, students, alumni and partners across our community and the progress we’re making to realize our Strategic Academic Plan.

Just a few of the many transformative initiatives underway at Lassonde are included in this newsletter. From groundbreaking research and innovative teaching models to the expansion of experiential learning, we continue to make great strides towards our goal of becoming one of the world’s leading interdisciplinary science and engineering schools.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to making the fields of engineering and science more welcoming and accessible to underrepresented groups in STEM, with a strong focus on decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion (DEDI). It’s at the heart of everything we do – from our kindergarten to industry (k2i) academy to new postsecondary programming designed to remove financial barriers. In fact, this September we kicked off Canada’s first fully work-integrated program in Digital Technologies. You can learn more about the employers who are a part of this innovative program, and hear directly from their students who are helping them address ICT sector skills gaps.

Together, we’re creating sustainable, inclusive, and human-centered solutions to address society’s challenges and generate positive impact on a global scale.

As always, I encourage you to stay connected with the School, fostering relationships not only with your peers but also with your former faculty, who are now valuable colleagues in your professional journey. Your ongoing support and engagement contribute significantly to our ongoing success, and your achievements serve as inspiration to current and future students, illustrating the remarkable impact our graduates have on the world.

Please visit our alumni page for more information about how you can continue to stay involved at Lassonde.

Thank you for taking the time to read through our newsletter. May this festive season bring joy, peace, and an opportunity for reflection on the incredible advances we’ve made together.
